Say His Name, Amir Locke

Say his name, Amir Locke! How many innocent black men and women have to die by the hand of the police before we make a change. The murder of Amir Locke feels like a modern day lynching to blacks. It is the same trauma that the sight of seeing a black man hung from a tree had decades ago.

It sends a message that black lives don’t matter. That we can be killed like dogs in the street and our families should be content because checks were written. Meanwhile our people and community continue to be discounted.

Why is it that you can find all types of videos where white men have guns and the police take them down without deadly force? However, a black man with a gun around police face certain death? It is a sad testimony to the racism that still exists in this country.

A place that is still riddled with redlining, an unequal education system, poor access to services, gentrification, unfair hiring practices and the list goes on. We now even have people in power (politicians) trying to justify a coup on our country (the insurrection). To the point where investigations are being called to uncover the possible participation of some of those elected into office in the event.

This is why we cannot rest. This is why it is important to know who we are as a people. They want to stop critical race theory from being taught in schools. First of all, let’s expose that lie. Critical Race Theory is not what is being taught in schools. Critical race theory is a college course. What is being taught in schools is the truth about this country, instead of his- story. We have been fed the lies about Christopher Columbus and many others. We were never told the truth which is that Columbus brought tyranny to the natives if this country. That the natives of this country had a government and society. They even had tribal alliances to help foster peace among the tribes. Their lands were taken and they were treated harshly and enslaved. this country took a deadly massacre and celebrated the day by calling it Thanksgiving to cover up the atrocities that occurred. If we continue to perpetrate lies, how will we ever change?

People of color want the truth exposed because you cannot make change based on lies. Until black bodies and all bodies of color matter, this country is weak. Forging a path base on equal rights and opportunities is the only thing that will make this country strong.

People of color historically are known for education and technological advances. These things were learned from us and then made into weapons to subjugate us. Why is it that commercials, movies and media, have historically had whites playing Egyptians when they are people of color? Why is it that we are just telling the truth that Aristotle and the Greek philosophers took many of their wise sayings from things written on structures and writings in Egypt? Things written by the Nubians who were dark people. Why are we never taught about the Moors in school and their contributions to European government and advancements? There are still people who do not know that King James is a black man?

Everyone in the world is connected to their roots except for black Americans. Why is that? I challenge black people to research your history and find out who you are. The truth will enrage and shock you. However once we get past that, it is time for us to rise up and become who we are and are meant to be. We must get back to focusing on education. We must run for political office and we must make change for the good of all people of color to make America great.

A country built on a foundation of lies and corruption is destined to fall. We must stand up and be counted to help build a stronger and better home for all. Greed, power and corruption seduce those in power from seeing the truth.

People of color don’t want a hand out we just want to be treated equally. We want the systems that are put in place to keep us in poverty and lack and death to be abolished. Please tell me what is the evil in that?
